Well-preserved Amazon rainforest on Indigenous lands can protect people from diseases, study finds

A new study reveals that well -preserved areas of the Amazon forest occupied and managed by indigenous peoples show lower incidents of multiple diseases in the regions surrounding them. The authors say that their work shows how the protection of indigenous territories can have a gain to protect human health. Their study occurs just a few weeks before the United Nations annual United Nations in Brazil this year, the voices of indigenous peoples and their role in the fight against climate change.
