Americans ‘Divided by Media for Profit, by Misinformation’

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr called on Americans to call on their “better angels” after the latest shooting in Minneapolis, lamenting that we are being “divided by the media for profit.”
Kerr delivered his speech Sunday after his team’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves was postponed due to the shooting of Alex Pretti by U.S. Border Patrol agents over the weekend.
“What worries me as an American is that we are not perfect,” he said.
As for the path forward, Kerr appealed to the Constitution.
“We’ve never been perfect. But I think our ideals and our values have been in the right place for a long time. And I think whatever side of the aisle you’re on, I think remembering the values that come with the constitution, that come with citizenship, the values of taking care of each other are so important right now, just because of the extremism that we can feel everywhere. People are so angry,” he said.
Kerr implored Americans to appeal to their better angels and not be led astray by misinformation and profiteering.
“There should be a call to our better angels to take care of each other and recognize what’s going on. We’re divided by the media for profit, by misinformation. There’s so much that’s really hard for all of us to reconcile. In times like these, you have to lean on your values, on who you are and who you want to be, whether as an individual or as a country. And I think that’s the most important thing,” he declared.
