Former New York Giants defensive back Sam Beal, the third-round supplemental draft pick from Western Michigan in 2018, has been missing for nearly seven months, and new details paint a worrying picture.

The 29-year-old’s NFL career was cut short by injuries and setbacks — he appeared in just nine games across 2019 and 2021, recording 27 tackles, one pass defensed, and one safety — before his release. After opting out in 2020 due to COVID-19, life off the field grew difficult.

Beal served jail time from September 2024 to February 2025 in Michigan for unpaid child support, reports TMZ.

After release, witnesses said he seemed “a little off,” stopped taking prescribed medication, and made disturbing comments like “If I was gone nobody would even care” and wishing a tornado would “swoop him up.”

In July 2025, Beal dropped off his girlfriend in Michigan, borrowed her car for work, but drove to Virginia Beach with no known ties there. His last contact was a promise to return home. The vehicle was later found abandoned, containing his shoes, socks, and sand inside.

His sister, Essence Zhane, recently pleaded publicly: “Your babies miss you… I love you.”

Kentwood Police filed the report in August 2025 after a missed probation check-in. Authorities in Michigan and Virginia Beach are investigating.
