On CNN’s “The Arena” Thursday, Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) said it wouldn’t be “enough” for Democrats to be anti-President Donald Trump as this year’s midterm elections approach.

Voters will expect more for the 2026 election and the 2028 presidential election cycle, according to Michigan’s Democratic lawmaker.

“You’ve been saying for a long time that Democrats need a ‘Project 2028’ to set their agenda,” said host Jim Sciutto. “Did you hear any elements of that in Mamdani’s speech?

Dingell responded: “I did, and I think what we need to do. It’s not enough that we’re anti-President Trump. People want to know what we stand for and how we’re going to do it. So I think it’s very important that we start to articulate what we stand for as the 2026 congressional elections approach, and the presidential candidates are going to have to be very strong on that.”
