Carrie Coon’s ‘Bug’ nude scene sparks support from co-stars

Tony and Emmy nominee Carrie Coonknown for her roles in “The Leftovers,” “The Gilded Age” and the final season of “The White Lotus,” has a shocking, extensive full-frontal nude scene in the new Broadway hit “Bug”.
Two of Coon’s “Gilded Age” co-stars — Morgan Spector, who plays her railroad tycoon husband, and Christine Baranski, who plays her wealthy neighbor — both came out to show their support.
The stars, along with fellow audience members Justin Theroux, Merritt Wever, Michael Shannon, AnnaSophia Robb and Laura Benanti, were surprised to have their phones seized by security officers and locked in silver pouches.
Guests can keep their phones on throughout the performance, although bags can only be unlocked during intermission and when exiting the theater.
The policy aims to protect the privacy of actors and avoid distractions during the paranoid play.
This haunting psychological thriller comes from the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright. Tracy Lettswho wrote “August: Osage County” and is also married to Coon. It’s helmed by director David Cromer, who won a Tony for “The Band’s Visit.”
Chris Jones, Daily News critic warned viewers that ‘Bug’ would ‘get under your skin’ noting that some people could even be seen”scratching” when going out.
The acclaimed production, originally scheduled to play until February 8, has extended its limited release for two more weeks.
