UN Promises Bankruptcy by July Unless Trump Gives Lots of Cash – RedState

Deep in the mid-winter blues and suffering from endless images of screaming Karens, their soy boys, and judges and elected officials obstructing the deportation of rapists, fraudsters, and ordinary illegals with 75 IQs, I thought we might need a pick-me-up, a little happy news. Well, I have it. The UN is on the verge of bankruptcy. U.N. operations could cease by the end of February, and the last flabby, underworked U.N. bureaucrat could receive a final check, provided it doesn’t bounce, in July.

The United Nations said Friday it faces imminent financial collapse and will run out of money by July if countries, including the United States, do not pay their billions of dollars in annual dues.

Senior U.N. officials have said that if money runs out, the agency would be forced to close its historic headquarters in New York by August. The UN Security Council, a 15-member body charged with maintaining international peace and stability, holds its meetings at UN headquarters.

It should also cancel the Annual General Meeting of world leaders held in September and close the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, which responds to global emergencies such as conflicts and natural disasters, he added.

How did we get to this state close to nirvana? Part of the story seems completely absurd.

The United States is responsible for about 95 percent of the money owed to the U.N., or about $2.2 billion, according to a senior U.N. official who briefed reporters on the agency’s budget crisis. This amount is a combination of annual US contributions for 2025, which have not been paid, and for 2026, the UN official said.

The United States contributed $1.3 billion to the UN in fiscal year 2025; our dues were $820 million for regular budget activities, and the rest was for all sorts of stupid, counterproductive nonsense. We have not paid the 2026 contribution, but the entire amount has been allocated. The real problem seems to be that the UN is shooting itself in the foot and then complaining about the pain.

The United Nations’ financial difficulties are largely linked to two problems: a liquidity crisis caused by member states not paying their dues or paying them late, and a financial rule, dating from 1945, which stipulates that if the organization fails to spend its entire budget, even if it is because of non-payment by member states, it must return the money to states.

Think about it for a moment. The UN establishes a budget; a particular program is not carried out, so the entire program budget must be repaid, even if the money was never collected.

Guterres said a rule that the U.N. must return money unspent on particular programs to members if it cannot implement a budget creates a “double whammy” in which it is “supposed to return money that doesn’t exist.”

I’m open to any corrections on this issue, but I’ve read at least eight sources, and they all “seem” to say the same thing. The implication is that nations could benefit from reductions even without paying contributions.

I think the real bone of contention, and the real reason virtually every article insists that the United States is not paying when we have failed to pay for the current fiscal year because these funds have not yet been approved by Congress, is because President Trump decided to stop funding the worst UN programs and actively killed a UN carbon tax system that would have given UN bureaucrats a slush fund giant.

Our exit from the World Health Organization, which served as China’s fifth column aimed at Western economies and societies during the COVID “pandemic” (see Thanks for the Memories – Trump Officially Sidelines the World Health Organization – RedState), and the religion of climate change (see Report: Trump Administration Must Essentially Ignore the UN Climate Summit – RedState) has weakened the capacity of a faceless international bureaucracy with a communist economic philosophy and methods fascists, to further encroach on our sovereignty.

Personally, I would prefer that Congress put an end to this whole mess. I see no reason why we should contribute about a quarter of all funds used by the UN when it is implacably hostile to the West and freedom.

I believe that smaller ad hoc groups of like-minded nations, working in concert, offer a greater chance of success than any United Nations program. I think President Trump’s “Peace Council,” with an exclusive, invitation-only membership (see THE ESSEX FILES: Trump’s Peace Council is a Gamble on American Leadership – RedState), working under a single leader, has a better chance of success than a host of third world kleptocracies swindling money from the UN while insulting the West – these are the people who give money – by doing so. calling them “colonialists” and hurling invectives at Israel for everything from boils on the ass to a bad harvest.
