The jets have little to boast recently, but they play hard-flock bills.

The last three meetings between these former AFL competitors have been decided by a touchdown or less, the jets by winning two.

Last season, Buffalo needed a goal on the fourth quarter at the end of the fourth quarter to escape with a 23-20 victory at the Metlife Stadium to deposit Gang Green in a hole of 2-4 per week after shooting the head coach Robert Saleh.

But Sunday afternoon’s meeting presents a new coach staff, led by Aaron Glenn, trying to give the winners of five consecutive titles from AFC East a battle.

“They accumulated a ton of yards,” said Bills coach Sean McDermott, about Glenn’s jets after their difficult 34-32 defeat against the Steelers. “They held the ball, they held the ball in Aaron [Rodgers] there. It’s a good team.

“According to all the accounts, they should have won this match. You can say that they are trying to reorganize things there. This reminds me of our first years here. Good coaches on both sides of the ball there and certainly a talented list too.”

If Glenn’s mandate with the jets looks like McDermott with the Bills, Gang Green will be in great shape. During his previous eight seasons in Buffalo, McDermott led the Bills at seven appearances in the playoffs.

Glenn hopes to transform a jets organization that has not sniffed the playoffs since 2010, which has been the longest drought in eliminatory series in North American sports. In the meantime, Glenn hopes to win his first coach victory against the Bills after the heartbreaking defeat of two points against the Steelers last week.

The jets (0-1) actually led by nine points entering the fourth quarter. However, the Steelers have scored 17 points in the last 15 minutes, including the 60 yards of Chris Boswell, to win the match.

But the jet offensive played well enough to defeat the Steelers. Glenn said in the training camp and the pre-season that jets would be a heavy offense and that it was certainly the case. They rushed for 182 yards, including 107 from the Ballon Breece Hall carrier.

Not only was the precipitated attack a catalyst for the jet offensive, but the quarter-rear Justin Fields during his first departure for Gang Green. It was effective in obtaining the ball at its receivers after finishing 16 passes out of 22 for 218 yards and a pass of a touchdown. Fields also used his legs to escape the rushers of passes, recording 48 yards and two scores on the ground.

The attacking coordinator of the Tanner Engstrand jets has high expectations for the team attack. The team has explosive games like 16 or more yards and races of 12 or more yards. According to these measures, the offensive of the jets behaved well against the steelers recording 11 explosive pieces.

“I really liked learning and being in this offense and learning to tan and bounce ideas from each other,” said Fields. “I think he is an excellent OC, I think he has a great offensive spirit, and he will bring our players where they must be, where it suits them best.

“I think there is a difference between the knowledge of the game and when you enter the moments of the game. It does a very good job of that, in a way to listen to me in terms of what I like, what I don’t like, and things like that. I appreciate that you come from him. As I said since we arrived here, he is a great offensive spirit, he knows again.”

As surprising as the offensive of the jets was in the first match, their defense was shocking against Pittsburgh. They granted 34 points that they only did twice last season.

In particular, the Brandon Stephens corner half half, which the jets signed with a $ 36 million contract over three years in March, had trouble because of coverage problems and “bad eyes”, according to the defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. He made expensive errors in the fourth quarter, which helped the Steelers guarantee the return victory.

Stephens abandoned five receptions for 60 yards out of seven targets. Overall, Rodgers launched four passes to the defense of the jets.

The task does not become easier because the defense of the jets will be confronted with the NFL MVP in Josh Allen, which led the Bills (1-0) to three scores in four minutes to overcome the Ravens closely, 41-40. Allen finished 33 of the 46 passes for 394 yards and two affected. He also rushed on 30 yards and two affected.

As bad as their defense occurred in week 1, Allen understands how difficult jets can be.

In 13 career games against jets, Allen launched 16 affected, 11 interceptions and has a scaper of 85.7.

“They have absolute studs about this defense,” said Allen about jets. “Really solid, they get very well after the quarter.

“We are going to have full hands. We have only one band game, so we have to trust our basic rules and be prepared for everything they can launch in front of us. ”

Glenn also knows in the first hand how dangerous Allen can be. He faced the Bills last year when he was the defensive coordinator of the Lions during their 48-42 defeat against Buffalo.

“Obviously, he was the MVP, so there is a number of things he does well,” said Glenn. “He is tall, he is physical. The only thing that really stands out for it is that it is very, very competitive, and it is one of those guys who can make the victory of his team.

“So, this is something that we have to do a very good job, our will must be stronger than its will, and it is a challenge in itself because of which it is. So, it will be a game of who will get rid of these games between these two teams.

Since the start of the era of the 12-team playoffs in 1990, only 32 teams (11.5%) have been in the after-season. Falling at 0-2 would be difficult for jets, especially given their next schedule.

After starting the season with consecutive home matches, the jets will have two consecutive games in Florida. First of all, they face the Buccaneers before having a division match Monday evening against the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium.

Then the jets go home in week 5 to play cowboys before playing broncos in London. This is why the Sunday match and avoid a start 0-2 are essential for the jets.

“I watch every match in itself and say, listen:” I come to win every match, “said Glenn.” No matter, they all mean the same for me, to be honest with you. But I get the mentality of that because it is the fastest way to arrive at the playoffs, it is that you win your division.

“But guy, I want to win all the matches, and it doesn’t matter who is there. It doesn’t matter at all. We want to go there and we want to execute and we want to show our football brand, no matter with whom we play.”
