This Tiny, Feature-Packed Smart Camera Is Just $18 for Black Friday

What makes the Blink Mini 2 special?
Small camera, big guard energy. Blink has your corners covered.
The Blink Mini 2 offers both shelf and wall mounting options, but it requires a plug connection. It includes a Blink Mini 2 camera, mounting kit with bracket, USB cable and power adapter.
Along with the easy-to-use Blink app, I found that the Blink Mini 2 can fit almost anywhere, which is great for people who are short on space or want a camera that doesn’t stand out. It’s wired, so you’ll need an outlet nearby, but that’s the only restriction. The Mini 2 is not compatible with the first generation Mini Pan-Tilt mount.

Plus, it’s amazing what the Blink Mini 2 can do. Inside the HD camera is motion detection with app alerts, two-way audio, a siren, a small spotlight, and night vision. It offers 1080p HD live view, full-color night view with a built-in spotlight and a wider field of view. It can even work as a chime if you have a very inexpensive product. Flashing Video Doorbell. Use Mini 2 as a plug-in chime for the Blink Video Doorbell (sold separately). And since it’s an Amazon brand, you can bet it works with Alexa and all Echo devices, but not with another home assistant.
Can I use Blink Mini 2 outdoors?
Rain control? Blink doesn’t need it. External security that remains active in the event of a storm.
You can mount the Blink Mini 2 outdoors, but this requires an additional outdoor cable. The cable is the only part that is not weather resistant. It therefore requires an upgrade and a nearby outlet, which may require electrical work. For outdoor use, a Blink weatherproof power adapter is required.
However, the package with outdoor cable is also incredibly affordable, costing just $30 for the full package. Keep in mind that due to its small size, the Blink Mini 2 won’t have the same range as some outdoor cameras, but it’s ideal for an entryway or small patio.
Do I need a subscription for the Blink Mini 2?

Blink’s person detection works quite well, but it’s a subscription-only feature. Smart notifications, including person detection, use built-in computer vision (CV) and require a Blink subscription plan. This is not required, but it will add more functionality. Blink’s subscription, which starts at $3 per month, adds cloud video storage, but you can also choose to get a Flasher Timing Module 2 ($50) and a USB stick for local storage. Otherwise, you will only get live views from the camera.
The subscription also adds object recognition, for example distinguishing between people, packages and animals. And it extends the time you can watch the live view (up to 90 minutes). If you really like these extra features – and they may come in handy – consider getting the bundle that includes a full year of the top-tier Blink Plus subscription and the camera for $100.
