The North Carolina Department of Transportation has awarded a $14 million contract to improve a major intersection in Concord in Cabarrus County.

The project is designed to improve safety and reduce accidents by replacing unsignalized and full-traffic intersections. As part of the improvement, crews will realign Union Cemetery Road to directly intersect US 29 and Rock Hill Church Road and create remaining turning movements along US 29. These movements will be added for traffic coming from Rock Hill Church Road and for vehicles traveling from US 29 to Cabarrus Avenue.
