Knicks, Mikal Bridges agree to 4-year, $150 million extension

New York Knicks striker Mikal Bridges accepted an extension of $ 150 million over four years with the franchise, Sam Goldfeder and Jordan Gertler of Excel Sports Management said on Thursday, told ESPN Shams Charania.
The agreement includes a player option for 2029-30 and a commercial botter. Bridges is not eligible to be exchanged for six months after the extension of the signature.
In finishing this new contract, Bridges takes a slight delivery of its maximum extension number ($ 156 million) to help New York maintain flexibility to continue building the list. Bridges, with Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and others, helped the Knicks at their first appearance in the final of the Eastern Conference in 25 years last season.
With the agreement of sewn bridges – his contract was initially expired after the 2025-26 season – the most urgent question to the offison in New York was resolved. The Brunson extension in 2024 and now the Bridges agreement gave the flexibility of the Knicks to operate under the two aprons of the salary ceiling, giving them room to add more players to the list.
Bridges came out of an inaugural campaign from top to bottom with New York after being exchanged at the club for five draft choices in the first round last summer, which sparked speculation that the Knicks could seek to do so rather than hammer a large extension.
Bridges, who was 29 years old in August, had trouble at the start when the Knicks used it to keep the generals on the ground and the ball managers, a role to a single finalist for the defensive player of the year was not used. His attempts to throw francs were sharply down from the previous season, while he was adapted to a first or second option with the humble nets of Brooklyn in the fourth in the hierarchical order of the Knicks for several nights. And he raised his eyebrows within the relatively buttoned organization in March when he said he had asked Coach Tom Thibodeau to back up in the heavy minutes of the entries, telling journalists “sometimes it is not fun on the body”.
But it was also effective in several ways, playing again in each match while finishing second in the NBA in the 3S -made and third in the league – dragging Kevin Durant and Devin Booker – as a percentage of goals on the field from mid -range (minimum 150 attempts). He went into a handful of key moments during the playoffs. In addition to having a pair of two -digit quarters of the Celtics series, he also made key stops on the final games of matches 1 and 2, in which the Knicks organized consecutive return of 20 points.
