Acura brings back the RSX sedan as an electric crossing with a total superior quality appearance, which is also the first model designed internally on the new Honda Global EV platform. This is the same platform that will end up underlying the Zero series of the automaker, which is expected to enter production next year with the RSX. It is therefore enough to say that the RSX resurrected is a big problem for Acura and its parent company.

The RSX prototype is making its world debut this week at two events of Monterey’s car week: The Quail Motorsports Gathering and Pebble Beach Elegance competition. Acura says that he will assemble the RSX at the Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio, on the same production line as Ecoura Integra, from the second half of 2026.

The RSX prototype is based on the performance EV concept which was revealed during the Monterey car week last year. The prototype retains many sharp angles that have given the concept an appearance almost in the shape of a boat. But although it is certainly not as wild as the concept, the frontal of the prototype is asserted and in your face, with daylight lights that compensate for the Acura logo in the middle. Acura says that the full rear back light is supposed to be a tribute to the second generation NSX, supplemented by a new “Acura” logo splashed on the tailgate. (In other news from NSX, Honda said he expected a new “NSX type” electric sports car for 2027 or 2028.)

Acura still does not publish any of the key specifications, which makes sense because it is still a prototype. We will therefore have to wait a little longer to find out more about the range, battery size, acceleration and price. The prototype rolls on 21-inch multi-ray rims, with the bright red stirrups of the high brembo brakes at the culminating. A coupé -shaped silhouette and a quick roof line are sure to be an impressive performance capacity indication.

In another first for Acura and Honda, the RSX prototype can serve as a mobile energy unit which can supply other devices, including an entire house. The bidirectional load is increasingly becoming a highly sought -after functionality in new electric vehicles, then Acura tries to get ahead of this trend with the RSX.
