Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Friday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) will investigate prominent Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton, after new emails released this week revealed ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
In an X post Friday afternoon, Bondi said Jay Clayton, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, would lead the investigation.
“Clayton is one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country,” Bondi wrote in his post. “As with all questions, the Department will pursue this approach with urgency and integrity to provide answers to the American people.”
Bondi’s response came after President Donald Trump took to social media to call for an investigation into notable Democrats and institutions allegedly linked to Epstein.

“Now that Democrats are using the Epstein hoax, involving Democrats, not Republicans, to try to distract from their disastrous ARREST and all their other failures, I will ask AG Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice, along with our great patriots at the FBI, to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationships with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, JP Morgan, Chase and many other individuals and institutions, to determine what happened with them and with him,” Trump wrote in an article for Truth Social on Friday.
The president then called the situation “another Russia, Russia, Russia scam, with all the arrows pointed at the Democrats.”
“Records show that these men, and many others, spent much of their lives with Epstein and on his ‘island.’ Stay tuned!!!” he wrote.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. previously told Fox News Digital that the government had “damning information” about Epstein’s crimes but was not sharing details with any bank.
“We regret any association we had with this man that did not assist him in committing his heinous acts,” Trish Wexler, head of policy communications and advocacy at JPMorgan Chase & Co, wrote in a statement. “We ended our relationship with him years before his arrest for sex trafficking.”
Democrats on the Oversight Committee on Wednesday released a slew of new emails related to the Epstein case, including one in which Epstein told Ghislaine Maxwell “the only dog that didn’t bark is Trump,” adding that the now president “spent hours at my house” with a victim.

In another email, Epstein wrote to Michael Wolff, explaining that Trump “knew about the girls when he asked Ghislaine to stop.”
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt previously told Fox News Digital that Democrats “selectively leaked emails to liberal media outlets to create a false narrative aimed at defaming President Trump.”
Rep. Robert Garcia, Democrat of California, a member of the Oversight Committee, issued a fiery statement demanding that the DOJ “immediately” release all of the Epstein files.
“The more Donald Trump tries to cover up the Epstein files, the more we uncover,” Garcia wrote in a statement. “These latest emails and correspondence raise glaring questions about what the White House is hiding and the nature of the relationship between Epstein and the president.”
