Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott said on Monday that Texas Education Agency (TEA) was investigating more than 100 educators who “asked or encourage violence” after the assassination of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

This decision follows a letter from Friday from the Education Commissioner, Mike Morath, to say that the superintendents, the tea examines the articles which, call “reprehensible or inappropriate” and transporting the potential violations of the code of ethics of educators to the division of investigations of the agency’s educators. “These educators – more than 100 – will have their certification of suspended teachers and will be inadmissible to teach in a public school in Texas,” posted Abbott on X.

Morath has said that freedom of expression “does not give carte blanche to celebrate or sow violence against those who share different beliefs and perspectives”, the addition of each case will be examined individually and that districts should submit incidents via the tea unconduct portal.

Cameron Abrams of the Texan reported by tea received “around 180 complaints” linked to the activity of the social media of educators after the kirk murder.

Kirk, CEO and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally killed on Wednesday during an event at the University of Utah Valley. Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested for suspicion of having killed Kirk.

According to a press release from Dallas Morning Morning News, Texas has exploded the actions of the state as a “hunt for political witches” against educators for speeches outside of speeches.

Neither Abbott d’Abbott nor the letter from Tea has listed educators under examination. Tea said potential sanctions include the suspension of certificates and other disciplines if investigators find violations of state ethics rules, according to CBS News.
