Alex Bregman homers, gets standing ovation in Houston return, but Astros hold off Red Sox rally for big win

Monday evening’s match between Boston’s Red Sox and Houston Astros at Daikin Park – a 7-6 victory for astros hosts – was not only a key match between candidates for the American League, he also caused the feedback from three essential players to the past, present and future of the Astros.
Namely, Carlos Correa made his first appearance at the Astros’ Ball Stadium since the trade in pre-Diadline who returned him twins to the franchise with which he spent the first seven years of his MLB career. In addition, Alex Bregman made his first trip to Houston since he signed a free agent contract with the Red Sox during the offseason. Bregman, like Correa, had been an astros lifer before the free agency took him elsewhere. Finally, Monday’s match marked the return of the launcher starting from Houston, Cristian Javier, from Tommy John surgery, while he made his first departure in about 15 months.
“I never thought I would have the chance to put this uniform,” said Correa, who signed with the Twins before the 2022 season, before the match. “You know, I am blessed that I can start again in front of all the fans here in Houston. We are very happy, to say the least. All my family is super excited.”
As for Bregman, who has two Astros World Series rings in Correa, he told journalists when he saw that familiar faces were what he expected most during his return to Houston. “Just see the guys, see people working at the stadium, see fans and playing baseball,” he said. “And I can’t wait to go there, compete with the guys and try to get victories.”
After a pre-match ceremony and a standing ovation for his first marble trip, Bregman quickly made his first trip to Houston as a player visiting a memorable player:
This Homer, the 15th of the Bregman season in 74 games, put it with exclusive, although closely defined:
He would later make a single blow on a 0-2 throw, and Bregman now reduces .301 / .382 / .541 for the year.
The rest of the night, however, mainly belonged to the old Bregman team. Correa obtained the welcome from a hero during his first trip to the plate in Houston:
Correa struck by looking at this first appearance of a plate, but he then won a simple RBI. He has now recorded a safe blow in nine consecutive games for Houston, and since the trade, he hits. 390 / .457 / .585. In addition to this production, Correa held the third goal for the first time in her professional career, which allowed the astros to replace the injured Isaac Paredes while keeping the stars and the former Glover Glover Jeremy Peña at the stop.
As for Javier, his first departure went quite well given the long layout, that the launchers who came out of Tommy John are often subject to early difficulties and that he faced one of the best infractions in the MLB. The figures for its beginning of Monday:

Of its 85 locations in the night, 53 went for strikes. Javier was credited with a victory for the first time since May 16 of last year. Javier, now 28 years old, was a reliable presence in the rotation of Houston for several seasons before his elbow gave in, and he will be a key contributor in the section. If anything, Monday’s efforts have strengthened this perception.
The Astros offensive was able to hang five points on Javier’s opposite number, the competitor of the Al Cy Young Garrett Crochet. This is equivalent to the greatest number of crochet races in a departure this season. Another collection of Houston’s deadline, the inner field player Ramón Urías, succeeded three strokes, including his first Home Run as Astro.
The Red Sox made late noise with four points in the seventh, but they were held there. The result means that the astros now lead the navies by a match at the top of the Al West ranking. The Red Sox, in the meantime, have now lost three in a row. They remain in second position of Joker in the Al and drag the Blue Jays with 4 ½ games in the Al East.
