Despite its range of parasitic extraterrestrials, rival companies and breathtaking action sequences, the Noah Hawley FX series Alien: earth is a story about humanity – with a pair of brothers and sisters lost for a long time.

Marcy (Sydney Chandler) and Joe (Alex Lawther) are known respectively, like Wendy (after the Peter Pan matriarch) and hermit (for calls from their father’s army). The latter is a human, the first a hybrid, a pair which is reconnected through a Ice age In the joke, then find yourself face to face in the ruins of a crushed Weyland-Yutani spacecraft.

The training of this link between brother and sister saw Lawther in music to establish their connection, with The end of the world f *** ing The actor sending Anohni and the 2005 Heartbreaker of Johnsons, “You Are My Sister”, in Chandler.

“This song from Anohni, I’m not sure that this is a relationship of a literal biological brother; it is his sisters, I imagine his queer sisters. But it speaks of immense love, an immense family bond, and a person who holds after the other when he is nocturnal and there are frightening things in the shadows,” says Lawther. “It makes me cry every time. Even thinking of this song makes me cry.”

Another platform for actors to establish their common history as brothers and sisters? Chandler and Lawther would send vocal notes in both directions, initially as they, then testing some like their characters Joe and Marcy during the pre-production.

“I listened, it was really interesting,” Chandler told Mashable. “It started a little because we had a few round trips like us, and then I remember when I said to myself:” You remember that night when dad … “And then you [Lawther] would add to it. None of this has appeared specifically for me during work, but having this texture and hearing your voice and talking to you in this way gave me an immediate story with you. And we had a secret, because no one else had that. No one else knew these pieces. “”
