Almost 23,000 pounds of ground beef recalled because of E. coli contamination

CS Beef Packers LLC of Kuna, ID, is recalling 22,912 pounds of raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O145, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The raw ground beef products were produced on January 14 and then frozen. The following products are subject to recall:
- Cardboard boxes containing eight 10-pound books. pieces of “BEEF, COARSE HACH, 73 L” with case code 18601, “Use/Freeze by: 02/04/26” and timestamps between 07:03 and 08:32 printed on two stickers placed on the outside of the case. Date and time stamps are also printed directly on the clear chub packaging.
- Cardboard boxes containing four 10 lb. chubs of “FIRE RIVER FARMS CLASSIC BEEF FINE HROUND 73L” with case code 19583, “Use/Freeze By: 02/04/26” and timestamps between 07:03 and 08:32 printed on two stickers placed on the outside of the case. Date and time stamps are also printed directly on the clear chub packaging.
- Cardboard boxes containing four 10 lb. chubs of “FIRE RIVER FARMS CLASSIC BEEF FINE HROUND 81L” with case code 19563, “Use/Freeze by: 02/04/26” and timestamps between 07:03 and 08:32 printed on two stickers placed on the outside of the case. Date and time stamps are also printed directly on the clear chub packaging.
The recalled products bear the establishment number “EST. 630″ inside the USDA inspection mark on the outside of the case and printed directly on the clear chub packaging.
The recalled ground beef was shipped to distributors in California, Idaho and Oregon for further distribution to food service establishments.
The issue was discovered during FSIS testing at a downstream customer, and sampling results showed the presence of E. coli. coli O145.
No cases of illness due to the consumption of these products have been confirmed. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare professional.
FSIS is concerned that some products may be found in food service freezers. Catering establishments are asked not to serve these products. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
