Transcript: Fox’s Dumb Spin on RFK Fiasco in Senate Backfires on Trump
Sargent: Well, what I find really striking about it, as you mentioned earlier is that Fox News seems to recognize how politically deadly for Trump if what RFK really does as health secretary is revealed to American voters. Listen, even republican and conservative voters don’t like it. The problem is that Americans appreciate our public health system. It is just a pillar of American grandeur, just like the scientific infrastructure that Trump also destroys is a pillar of national greatness. Fox is aware of this problem, right? Isn’t that what they are trying to navigate? Can you talk about it?
Gertz: This is an interesting situation for them because I think they recognize that to be an outlet in good standing with the Maga movement, they must find a way to support Kennedy. If they don’t, they will be under the fire of the right. They lived part of this in the morning of the hearing in the morning when they did not wear it right away. They did not carry Kennedy’s opening declaration. They jumped later. And when that happened – when they did not manage to start immediately to ventilate it live – you had Steve Bannon on its podcast by pointing this immediately and saying: This is because they are in bed with pharmaceutical companies, And, Fox News is simply not on board with the Maga Agenda. And when you see this, it is an indication that the network is taken between reality and its basis of spectators. And it’s always a precarious position for Fox News. They therefore try to find ways to support Kennedy. For the moment, they avoid being obviously anti-vacuum in its entirety.
In fact, a related story that I followed is that we have brought out the highest medical official in Florida and repeal all the vaccination mandates in this state, including for CHildren who go to public schools. And Fox’s coverage was, I would say, so tense. I think that in an ideal world for Fox News, Kennedy would not try to remove vaccines from people. But that, I think, will happen to a head later this month, because what we have heard for weeks now is that Kennedy claims to have found the cause of autism and go Announce it later in September. It will almost certainly be his way of attacking the vaccine calendar, pushing the lie that vaccines are the cause of increased autism. It is a well -known conspiracy theory and lie. But it seems that it is the direction where it all goes. And when this happens, Fox News will have the choice to do. They go must count with this reality in one way or another. I think it will be quite important where they go down.
