Canelo predictions against Crawford

Brian Campbell: The weight classes are there for a reason. And the great great men almost never lose against the equally large men. This was largely the chorus of anyone who chose Alvarez to stop the candidacy of Crawford to become the first undisputed champion four times four times in the history of boxing. But these are only partially true and depend on the combatants in question. The main argument on the other side – that if someone can do it, Crawford can – is something with which I agree. But even it does not mean that the end result is automatic. Two big fighters of all time will share the ring on Saturday. But the only major story that my prediction cannot support is the idea that Alvarez has lost sufficiently physically (not to mention his hunger to fight, absolutely) and that he is a duck seated to be upset despite the fact that he is larger, stronger, younger and has been much more active in the last two years (fighting four times for Crawford).

Has Alvarez ride a little a little, allowing a lesser competition to travel the distance against him while hoping for a force test with David Benavidez Invainu? Yes. It’s true. The same goes for the fact that outside of his defeat in 2022 against the heavy light King Dmitry Bivo, Alvarez did not face an adversary really capable of upsetting him for a very long time. But Alvarez is not where he is at the moment as the largest star in sport and the richest active competitor without knowing how to turn it on and off when it is important.

Even if Crawford will be two years under the fighting combat at two years old and will make his debut at 168 pounds after mounting two weight categories, I still believe that he will be competitive and difficult. Crawford can change position at will, is as intelligent and sharp from a puncture that boxing has seen for years and has a pronounced spine which could allow it to give and sometimes fail if it chooses its stains. This dream fight would not be a reality if there was no legitimate chances that Crawford could win it. But these chances seem to strongly imply the belief that Alvarez cannot fight hard for 12 full laps or has lost enough steps to be surpassed by a three -year -old fighter his elder.

Expect what Alvarez uses not only his body attack, but his penchant to beat the arms of his opponents by brutalizing their guard with heavy hooks to slow down the inevitable movement of Crawford. Alvarez has one of the best chin in the history of boxing, which makes an upset stop unlikely. As long as he ensures that Crawford feels his physical advantages and makes him pay to take risks, it remains a fight that Alvarez should win a lot. Pick: Canelo by unanimous decision

Brent Brookhouse: I feel like I have been on roller coaster in recent months. Initially, it seemed impossible that Crawford will jump several weight classes to defeat one of the greatest fighters of his time. Crawford did not seem to transport all its power to the average junior weight when he faced Madrimov in a fight that Madrimov almost won. So why should we expect Crawford to be more physically capable, mount two other weight classes? In addition, Crawford is relatively inactive, having fought only once since July 2023.

Again, Alvarez has not been exactly his best in recent years. This does not mean that it has been pushed to the edge of the defeat since the Bivo fight, but a performance as awful as the cake fight, where the fighters combined for the least punches launched in a 12 -laps fight in the history of Compubox and Alvarez launched the second fighter, does not exactly inspire confidence. A fighter as good as Crawford eats any boxer who presents himself without living inspiration. Oh, and Alvarez did not mark a stop in seven fights.

Then I realized that I spent so much time thinking about the few negatives of two great fighters. In the end, the two men should be as standing as possible for such a large fight. Alvarez is a genius boxer who knows that he cannot fight Crawford as if he could sleep in the scull fight. And Crawford may not transport all its power to Super Middleweight, but it is as endowed with a boxer as sport and can bypass this and play its strength.

In the end, I think the weight classes count. Alvarez is used to fighting at 168 years old, he phened big men and did not collapse. Crawford has not tasted the same pop level and we don’t know what it looks like when Alvarez lands body strokes and connects to the chin. Crawford has a big beard, but the strangers rest with him much more than Alvarez and that is why I arrived at my final conclusion. Pick: Canelo by unanimous decision

Brandon Wise: I am still not convinced that Alvarez always has it as an elite fighter. Each of his last five fights has left the fans to go asking himself “is that it?” Alvarez did not manage to deposit opponents of intermediate level or even to really threaten to drop them, and this understands John Ryder, Jermell Charlo (to come two weight categories), Jaime Munguia (who then underwent a brutal loss of KO later) and Edgar Berlanga (who also underwent a loss of brutal ko in his last outing). The raw skills will always be there and will face another opponent to set up two divisions should slightly promote the man who has fought at 168 pounds since 2018. But I remember hearing similar doubts about Crawford before Spence’s fight on size and speed. What happens if Crawford comes out and attracts the attention of Alvarez early with a vicious combo? Is Alvarez engendered and is he trying to grind a decision or try to fight fire with fire? If the latter is true, I trust Crawford and his style of emptying to frustrate Alvarez, who can sometimes make moments.
