‘An Honor’: Trump Announces He’s Donating His Family Bible To National Museum About Revered Religious Text
President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he donated his family bible to the Bible Museum in Washington, DC
Just before the hearing of the Religious Freedom Commission, Trump donated the Bible that was given to him by her mother, Mary Anne Macleod, and said it was an “honor” to display her family artifact at the museum. The president noted that the Bible is an integral part of “American history” and is the one that has shaped “millions of lives” for thousands of years.
“For thousands of years, the Bible has shaped civilization, ethics, art and literature and this has brought hope, healing and transformation to millions and millions of lives. The Bible is also an important part of American history, which is why I am delighted to announce that a few moments ago, I gave it personally. Trump also announced that the Ministry of Education had received new advice to protect prayer in public schools and said that it “would protect the Judeo-Christian values from our foundation”. He also deplored the thrust of gender ideology in schools and the treatment of certain religious students when they said a prayer in class.
“To have a big nation, you must have religion – I believe so strongly,” said Trump. “There must be something after going through all of this, and that something is God.”
The president has been a solid supporter of the protection of religious expression and freedom, and has been a supporter of the authorization of school prayer since his first mandate. He adopted new guidelines in July which extended religious protections for federal employees, including the display of religious articles and to pray in groups during leaves on leave.
The Ministry of Justice (DoJ) launched a working group to “eliminate” anti-Christian prejudices and has opened an investigation into a law in the state of Washington which forces Catholic priests to disclose the information received in the confessional linked to the abuse or the negligence of children.
