Former NFL star Mark Sanchez could face six years in jail after being stabbed by 69-year-old | NFL

The former NFL quarter-back, Mark Sanchez, could incur a prison sentence after being accused of criminal battery on Monday.

The accusation is added to three other people he delivered Sunday after a violent confrontation earlier in the weekend. These accusations concerned the battery with an injury, public poisoning and the illegal entry of a vehicle during the early Saturday morning incident which left Sanchez, who worked as Fox sports analyst since his retirement to play, hospitalized with wounds by stab.

Monday’s load concerns the five -year level battery involving “serious bodily injuries”, which can lead to a prison sentence of up to six years and a fine of $ 10,000.

“I don’t care who you are. I don’t care what you do in life. I don’t care about where you live. If you come in our city, commit the violence, we will use all the tools at our disposal to keep you responsible,” said Indianapolis police chief Chris Bailey on Monday.

Sanchez was stabbed and pepper pulverized by a 69 -year -old truck driver during the Indianapolis incident, where the former New York Jets star was to cover an NFL match between the colts and Las Vegas raiders on Sunday. Sanchez would have confronted the driver, known only as “PT” in the police affidavit, in a loading bay outside a hotel. PT says he was collecting used cooking oil at the hotel when Sanchez, that he claims to feel alcohol, tried to enter the truck. PT says Sanchez told him that the hotel director said he didn’t want the oil to be recovered.

PT said he thought Sanchez “was trying to kill me” and used grass to protect himself. When the spray did not prevent Sanchez to swarm on him, PT said that he had stabbed the old quarter-arre “two or three times”. Sanchez would then have launched PT against a garbage dumpster before “a shock look” falls on his face and he “took off”. The detectives examined the video sequences of the incident. Witnesses said Sanchez and PT filmed with mobile phones during the incident.

According to the Affidavit, Sanchez told the police: “Everything he remembered was to enter a window.” He did not remember who had stabbed him or where the incident occurred.

The incident left Sanchez with wounds by stab in his chest while PT suffered deep cuts on his face. On Monday, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears described PT’s injuries as “very severe”. Sanchez was treated in hospital for his injuries, which were not deadly, before being arrested on Saturday. It is expected to appear during an audience on Tuesday morning.

“We are literally talking about people who fight for a parking lot,” said Mears. He added that a number of witnesses and security cameras had given the police a clear image of the incident.

Another former NFL quarter-back, Brady Quinn, replaced Sanchez in Fox stand for Sunday’s match. Fox briefly recognized the incident in the Sunday pre-match show on Sunday, with the host Curt Menefee saying: “We always try to wrap our heads … Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, his family and all the people involved”.

Sanchez joined Fox in 2021 and also contributes to the Studio FS1 programming.

Before his broadcasting career, Sanchez played 10 seasons in the NFL with several teams, including the New York Jets, who took him with the fifth global choice of the 2009 draft. Later, he played for the Eagles of Philadelphia and the Cowboys of Dallas. He retired in July 2019 and soon after, he started working with the coverage of ESPN university football before going to Fox.
