Another Google Pixel 6a catches fire after battery-nerfing update

According to the Reddit Post, the phone was connected to a standard USB-PD charger during the night (the OEM Steam bridge socket). The unlucky owner woke up with a burning odor and a face full of battery smoke, but was able to launch the ignited phone on the ground, where he fortunately spent his remaining energy without setting fire to the house.
Half-measures
A lithium-ion battery fire is difficult to put out, which is why manufacturers take the risk of defective batteries seriously. Google, however, did not take it seriously enough to remember the phone. Pixel 6a owners are supposed to speak from Google that the “battery performance program” will make the phone to use, even if it only lasts a few hours on a load. It seems that the company does the minimum to avoid responsibility.
The recently exploded telephone owner indicates that battery replacements are not available via retailers in their country. Shipping a phone for a battery exchange can take weeks and is simply not an option for many people who count on their device for communication. Credit in cash of $ 100 or $ 150 from Google are not close to the cost of a new phone either.
Pixel 6A owners could look at their phones with more concern in the future. Google half-measures force its customers to continue using hampered devices that can still ignite, and that does not seem to be a great way to manage the situation. We have contacted Google to comment and report if we get a declaration.
