Apple may have remained silent on the AI front during its Keynote WWDC 2025, but behind the scenes, the company actively explores new movements in space.

According to Bloomberg, Apple held the first internal discussions – led by its mergers and acquisitions chief – on a possible acquisition of Perplexity AI, the research startup fueled by the AI founded by Aravind Srinivas. Although no formal offer was made, the best leaders of Apple examined several scenarios involving the company.
An option is a partnership that would integrate Perplexity technology in iOS to fuel a native IA search experience. Another possibility is a complete acquisition, which would allow Apple to integrate the AI of Perplexity directly in Siri or a wider apple search platform.

The report also notes that the acquisition of perplexity could give Apple a strategic help if its research agreement of several billion dollars with Google – worth per year to keep the default search engine on iOS – is forced to finish with a court order.
Anyway, this decision would be a strategic victory for Apple, which continues to follow competitors like Google and Meta in the AI race. In WWDC, Apple has once again avoided giving a concrete chronology for the deployment of its Apple Intelligence update to very large numbers for Siri. The rumors suggest that the company has a lot from time to time, with doubts about the question of whether Siri reworked will be ready by the end of the year.
