Mozilla Firefox receives around major updates approximately every four weeks, giving the web browser a constant flow of bugs, new features and safety improvements. Firefox 143 is now taking place with the return of installation websites, improvements in tabs and access to cameras, and much more.

The first are some important changes for the office browser. The Windows version brings back the support of “installation” web applications in the taskbar, which opens in a more minimal browser interface, but with all your regular Firefox modules. This does not yet work for Firefox installed in the Microsoft Store, or Firefox on other operating systems, but I hope it will happen soon.

Firefox had a hidden option on desktop platforms to install web applications, just like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari and other browsers. It was completely removed in 2021, as explained by a Mozilla developer: “We do our best to work on the features that have the most impact for our mission with the limited resources of which we have, and for the moment, all the available data indicate that the current current [site-specific browser] The implementation is not in this whole. The reworked version appeared as a Firefox laboratory test in July, and now it is available in the ordinary browser.

In addition, when the sites require access to the camera, you get a small preview of the camera in a contextual window. This is especially useful when you have several connected cameras and you are not sure which one has the name. In addition, the tabs can now be pinned by dragging them to the start of the tab tab, instead of always clicking them right and selecting the “Tab Tabs” option.

There are also two important improvements in confidentiality. The protection of fingerprints now blocks the fonts installed locally (except those of your operating system) of text rendering on pages, and “the random data are introduced on the background images when the website reads the image.” These changes should make it more difficult to monitor networks to monitor your behavior on the web in Firefox. The second change is an update of private navigation: when you close all private windows, Firefox can possibly delete all files downloaded from these windows.

The latest major change for Desktop Firefox is the addition of Microsoft Copilot as a new chatbot option in the sidebar, alongside existing options like Chatgpt and Anthropic Claude. The response to the characteristics of the Firefox community AI was largely negative, but Mozilla still tries.

The list of changes to Firefox on iPhone and iPad is much shorter. There is the new “Shake to Summary” feature that creates summaries of instant pages with a shake or a tap, and a “cleaner and smooth experience with layout improvements and bug corrections”.

Finally, Firefox 143 on Android has three main changes. You can now activate DNS via HTTPS for additional navigation protection, XHE-AAC audio is now supported, and downloads have updated checks with real-time monitoring.

How to update Firefox

Firefox will automatically install the update on your computer, phone or tablet when available. To check immediately and install all the available updates, click on the menu icon at the top right of the browser toolbar and select “Firefox”.

You can download Firefox to the official Mozilla website, the Google Play Store, Apple App Store and Microsoft Store.
