AZ Dem Rep Digs Hole Deeper With New Video, More Comments About Her Interaction With ICE During Raid – RedState
We reported on Democratic Rep. Adelita Grijalva (AZ-07)’s complaints that she was “pushed back and pepper-sprayed” during an enforcement action in Tucson, Arizona:
According to Grijalva, members of the Tucson community had stopped about 40 ICE agents, most of whom were masked, in the middle of a street near Taco Giro, which Grijalva described as a small family restaurant.
She explained that community members stopped the police “because they were afraid [the agents] were taking people away without due process.
“I was here – this is like the restaurant I come to literally once a week – and I was sprayed in the face by a very aggressive officer, pushed around by other officers, when I was literally not aggressive,” Grijalva said in a video posted on the social platform X. “I was asking for clarification, which is my right as a member of Congress.”

Grijalva seemed to admit that the crowd had hampered the officers.
She also posted the following video. If she thinks it makes her look good, she is deluding herself:

What I see is people interfering with officers trying to do their jobs and then leaving. What does Grijalva do? Performing in front of the cameras, telling officers to “get out.” I don’t see anyone pushing it. I don’t see any pepper spray on his face, although I do see a puff of smoke at his feet at one point. Considering the behavior of the crowd, the officers’ behavior was relatively calm. The agents try to get out, but it is the crowd that blocks them.
Any pro advice for Grijalva? She cannot interfere in active enforcement measures simply because she is a member of Congress. And it wasn’t very smart to post the video showing how wrong she was.
It was actually even worse than what this video shows. According to Fox, up to 200 protesters blocked officers in the parking lot at one point. Someone had locked the parking lot door on them. The authorities had to cut the lock with a saw. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), two agents were injured in the chaos. And officers had to call local police for help and “emergency support” just to get out of the area for their own safety, even after deploying pepper spray.
The enforcement action involved a years-long investigation, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokesman Fernando X. Burgos.
That wasn’t all. As if Grijalva hadn’t already done enough, she went on Jen Psaki’s MS NOW show and claimed she was “shot at.”
Rep. Grijalva has been in Congress for five minutes and has already gotten her ICE viral victimization moment:
“I really assumed I was just trying to understand what was going on.”
“I went up, introduced myself, let them know who I was.”

It’s a scenario. The same every time.
Disrupt and/or impede ICE operations, provoke response.
Guaranteed moment of victimization, assured media success.
She’s upset that when she tried to let officers know his name, she claims he said, “I don’t care who you are, you need to get out of the way.” Good for him; it’s absolutely true.
This behavior is simply shameful. This is how far the Democrats have gone beyond the limits.
White House deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson let him do it.
Being a member of Congress does not mean you can interfere with an ongoing law enforcement operation and tell law enforcement officers to “get out.”
