‘Arc Raiders’ issues widespread penalties for alleged cheaters

Embark Studios finally tackles cheaters in its hit multiplayer game Arc Raiders. Enforcement efforts began Monday, with suspected cheaters receiving an in-game pop-up informing them that they have been hit with a 30-day ban.

The move follows weeks of heated discussions on online forums, during which players spoke about a growing problem with cheating. Last week, Embark announced that it would take action against violators using revolutionary tools, including wallhacks, invisibility exploits and aimbots. Some players, however, argue that grouping minor exploits together, like abusing the map’s telemetry glitches to access locked areas, risks going too far, especially if those infractions lead to permanent bans.
For now, a one-month suspension appears to be the basic sanction, with the hope that repeat offenders will receive a permanent ban. However, not everyone is satisfied. On Reddit, some players say the initial penalty doesn’t go far enough.

“Only 1 month?” one user wrote. “I hope there will be a longer suspension for various severities of cheating.”
“The suspension? Of course that will teach them,” replied another.
Others took a more creative approach. Suggestions in the thread ranged from making cheaters endlessly slither across the ground, to burdening them with a permanent 10% debuff to their movement speed. More extreme proposals included blanketing the map with infinitely respawning enemies or forcing cheaters onto a single server entirely cut off from the rest of the player base.
Whether Embark will toughen sanctions or stick to gradual bans remains to be seen, but for now, Arc Raiders cheaters are officially warned.
