Argh, I want this Star Trek library card SO BAD

Libraries open up whole new worlds. It is the same Star Trekif you immerse yourself in its different space exploration circuits. I never thought the two would overlap, but it turns out my own city proved me wrong.
Look at this thing. It’s the most glorious homage to my favorite sci-fi franchise.
(Obviously, this artwork is an oversized version of what you get: the real version is a full-size library card, as Redditor u/crazymacattack documents.)

This collaboration between San Francisco and Paramount was part of previous citywide celebrations honoring Star TrekIt’s the 60th anniversary. A perfect partnership, considering San Francisco is home to Starfleet (including Starfleet Academy) at Star Trek universe.
Although the promotion officially only lasted for a week in February, California residents can still travel to SF and open a library account. (And yes, all California residents can open a library account anywhere in the state. The catch is that you have to show up in person to do so.) The branch I checked with still had plenty of books. Star Trek-thematic maps remain, but stock may vary depending on which one you visit.
If you’re not a California resident, there’s still plenty to love about libraries. In addition to books, magazines, newspapers and films, you can borrow truly unique items from certain locations, like tools. Or you can access 3D printers on site. It definitely opens up new worlds.
And you know, no matter where you live, the artwork used on these library cards is worthy of internet petitions to make it widely available. It would look great on my wall, that’s all I’m saying. Even if I manage to get one of those library cards.
