Armed Texas woman sits in lawn chair during hours-long standoff

A 64 -year -old Texas woman armed with a revolver sits on a lawn chair while pointing the pistol on her head and closed a highway during a one hour confrontation that “ended peacefully”.
The incident started around 1:30 p.m. Thursday after an accident on Interstate 45 near Houston. The officials said that the woman collided intentionally with a semi-camion and a tractor, then refused the verbal orders of the officers when she was arrested. She then released a chair of lawn and sat in the middle of the highway while putting the pistol at her head.

The negotiators and the woman’s daughter were brought to the scene to speak to the woman, who would have history of mental illness.
The situation disrupted traffic with all the roads of the highway near the stage stopped.
After about five hours, the woman put the weapon on the ground, went to the authorities and was arrested. Before she was handcuffed, she tightened the negotiators in her arms. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated there.
“The good thing is that someone’s mother, the grandmother is coming home this evening,” said Major Collar of the Harris County Sheriff’s Bureau, Cedrick Collier. “Maybe not tonight, but she is not injured, she was not dead. We did not have to use the Force to take it into police custody. She can get the help she needs, and it’s great. It’s a victory.”
