Woman injured in fire at Uptown building


A woman suffered smoke inhalation during an overnight fire at an Uptown apartment building that displaced seven people, including a child, Chicago police said.
Police responded to a call about a fire shortly before 1:15 a.m. at a residential building in the 4900 block of North Glenwood Avenue in the Uptown neighborhood, police said. When they arrived, the fire was extinguished by firefighters on site, police said.
Officers said several people were displaced in the fire, including a child. A woman who had smoke inhalation was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she was found to be in good condition, police reported.
The Red Cross was called to the scene.
No other injuries were reported in the fire and the Chicago Fire Department was investigating the cause of the fire.
