Assumption High School volleyball now one win away from 25th KHSAA state championship

Brooke Codey had 14 kills and Taylor McKenzie added 10 to lead the Assumption High School volleyball team to a 25-15, 25-22, 25-15 victory over Lexington Catholic on Saturday in the state tournament semifinals at George Rogers Clark.

Jill Bohannon (30 assists) and Emily Keiran (15 digs) also have big games as No. 1-ranked Assumption faces the winner of Notre Dame-North Oldham in Saturday’s state final at 7:30 p.m.

The Rockets (39-4) are seeking their third straight state title and their 25th overall.

Ella Blackburn had 10 kills to lead No. 10 Lexington Catholic (33-5).
