Astronomers have discovered the earliest seeds of rocky planets forming around a baby sun-like star. They reported Wednesday that it’s an unprecedented snapshot of “time zero” when new worlds begin to gel. The Dutch-led team used NASA’s Webb Space Telescope and a telescope in Chile to observe a young star some 1,370 light-years away. It’s a yellow dwarf in the making like our sun, but much younger. Scientists say it’s an opportunity to study how solar systems like ours came to be. The study was published in the journal Nature.
