Rams Could Make Surprising Cut With Overpriced Free Agent Signing

Last year, the Los Angeles Rams made one of the most confusing free agent signatures of the offseason, adding the tight winger Colby Parkinson on a $ 22.5 million contract over three years. This came after Parkinson recorded only 25 catches for 247 yards and a few affected with the Seattle Seahawks in 2023.
Yes, the Rams signed the 6 -foot 7 inch and 265 pound parkinson in large part because of its blocking capacity, but given the money they paid to it, they also awaited an offensive production.

Needless to say, Parkinson did not really do this during his first campaign in Los Angeles, catching 30 passes for 294 yards and a score. Keep in mind that it was with Tyler Higbee who is missing most of the season.
Now, with the Rams needing to go down to 53 players by Tuesday, it goes without saying that Los Angeles could choose to reduce your losses by releasing Parkinson, which would in fact allow $ 5.25 million in Rams in Cap Room.

This may seem surprising since Parkinson was to represent a fairly large part of the Los Angeles offensive in the future (for any reason), but the idea of cutting Parkinson is something that was discussed by others.
The RAMS decision to select Terrance Ferguson in the second round of the NFL draft definitively applied a certain pressure in Parkinson, in particular with the draft in 2023, Davis Allen being also in the team with Higbee.

Los Angeles could always choose to drive with four tight ends, but generally, three is the maximum quantity of players you want to allow this position. This could spell bad news for Parkinson, which was definitely a disappointment (relatively speaking) in the first year.
On the other side of the medal, Higbee played in just three games last season and began to show serious signs of decline in 2023, so perhaps the maintenance of Parkinson would provide Rams with some insurance. But if it comes down to Parkinson or Los Angeles, keeping another player in a different position, Parkinson could end up getting the hammer.
