Crossing City, Michigan – At least 11 people were stabbed in a Walmart to City Traverse on Saturday – with six in critical condition – in what the sheriff said seemed to be a random act. A suspect was in detention, the authorities said.

“Eleven is 11 years old, but thank God, it was not more,” said the sheriff of the County of Grand Traverse Michael Shea.

Emergency vehicles and the first uniform stakeholders were seen outside the store after the incident.

Tiffany Defell, 36, who lives in honor, about 40 kilometers from City Traverse, said that she was in the parking lot when she saw the chaos burst around her.

“It was really frightening. Me and my sister freak out, “she said. “This is something you see out of the film. This is not what you are waiting to see where you live.”

Munson Healthcare said through social media that 11 people were treated in the largest hospital in the Northern Michigan region. Spokesperson Megan Brown said they were all victims of beading. Six were critical and five were in serious condition on Saturday evening, she said.

Shea said the weapon involved seemed to be a folding style knife. Earlier in the day, Michigan State police said the suspect was placed in police custody. Shea said the suspect is a Michigan resident, but refused to share other details.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer said: “Our thoughts concern the victims and the community in shock from this brutal act of violence.”

Walmart said in a statement that he would continue to work closely with the police in the investigation.

“Violence as this is unacceptable. Our thoughts go to those who have been injured and we are grateful for the rapid action of the first stakeholders,” the statement said.

The deputy director of the FBI, Dan Bongino, said in an article on social networks that office officials responded to “provide necessary support”.

Crossing City is a popular vacation spot on the Côte du Lac Michigan. It is known for its cherry festival, its vineyards and its headlights and is around 25 miles (40 kilometers) east of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
