Transcript: Chris Murphy’s Dark and Unnerving New Warning about Trump

The second thing I hear about is: “Well, we ran on democracy in 2024 and we lost. And so let’s not do democracy, let’s save and health care. ” I am totally to focus on the economy – I am a big believer that Bernie’s message, or a version of it, is really the secret sauce. We must be a populist economic party. But we can never increase the minimum wage by $ 10 if our democracy disappears. So, whether or not the polls tell us that everyone in this country believes that democracy is in danger – it East at risk. And if we do not direct and explain to people what is going on, then regardless of our message next fall. There will be no free and fair elections to run. These are the two things I hear from people who are not necessarily willing to speak as I speak.

Sargent: Yeah. And I wonder if it is really a dodge in many cases. Some Democrats simply do not want the fight you make sure. They do not want to participate in an argument like this for various reasons. And then they just say that this is the reason, those you have offered. It is not an easy argument in which to enter, because, one, it is difficult to explain to people, people do not want to hear it – even if I think that more and more people want to hear it in a sense. The democratic basis certainly wants to hear it. And a segment of self -employed wants to hear people say it. But it seems to me that the Democrats are evasive and create excuses afterwards. Does that seem too hard to you?

Senator Murphy: No, it doesn’t seem too hard. I think that when you have been in politics, I climbed the scale, I reached a position of authority, sometimes, for any reason, some of the risk instincts that you could have had earlier in your career disappear a little. So yes, I think there are people who are just not ready for this fight. I understand. There are people who say that a closure is really bad for people. And that’s. People will be injured during a closure. But they will be more injured if our democracy never recovers. They will be more injured if the oligarchs will take total control of our government and are able to fly without control, with total impunity of the people. So yes, I think people need to understand that it is a fight that is worth having, and it is always a fight that we can still win.
