Pocock says Australia must also focus on returns from ‘industries of the future’

Pocock advocated for a fair return on gas and other “industries of the future,” including critical minerals and AI data centers.

He said:

double quoteI think we need to get a fair return on exporting our gas right now, but we need to look to all these other industries that we’re told are the industries of the future, critical minerals, AI data centers.

When asked what this fair return looks like and whether he thinks Australia should consider a government ownership model similar to Norway, he replied:

double quoteI don’t have a specific solution to this problem, but I think it’s the principle of how do we get a fair return on resources that belong to the Australian people?
