Five Republicans Vote To Force Bondi To Answer For Epstein Files Debacle

Five Republicans joined Democrats on Wednesday to subpoena Attorney General Pam Bondi to testify before Congress about her Department of Justice’s (DOJ) highly scrutinized deployment of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
The House Oversight Committee voted 24-19 to call Bondi to appear before Congress to discuss the Justice Department’s release of the records, the manner of which has drawn significant criticism from across the political spectrum. South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace — a leading proponent of greater transparency regarding Epstein’s child sex trafficking empire — introduced the motion. Four of her Republican colleagues joined her in voting in favor: Republican Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Tim Burchett of Tennessee, Michael Cloud of Texas and Scott Perry of Pennsylvania. Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer joined the panel’s Republican majority in voting against the motion.

The DOJ did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
“AG Bondi claims the DOJ released all of the Epstein files. The facts are clear: They did not,” Mace wrote in an X-article Wednesday afternoon announcing his decision to subpoena Bondi.
The Republican lawmaker, running for governor of South Carolina, later called Epstein’s case “one of the greatest cover-ups in American history.” She highlighted missing videos and audios as well as outstanding documents numbering in the millions.
“We want to know why the DOJ is more focused on protecting the powerful than justice. The American people deserve answers, victims deserve justice. HOLD THE LINE,” Mace added in his message.

“The DOJ quietly deleted over 65,000 pages of Epstein files, without answering a single question from Congress,” Mace wrote in another Wednesday X message sent from his personal account. “Today I subpoenaed Attorney General Pam Bondi. You promised transparency. It’s time to deliver. The American people deserve the truth. FREE THE FILES.
Mace and Boebert were notably among the first four House Republicans who, in 2025, joined Democrats in signing a discharge petition aimed at forcing the House to vote on the Epstein files.
