SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Deni Avdija scored 26 points, had a career-high 14 assists and grabbed rebounds as the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Golden State Warriors 127-123 in the Copa NBA.
He took just 14 games from the field, but made 12 of 13 free throws, including two with 9.8 seconds remaining. The Blazers came to the Warriors as visitors for the first time from January 1, 2021.
Donovan Clingan recorded a career-high 22 points and was responsible for those rebounds. Caleb Love had 26 units, Toumani Camara added 20 and Sidy Cissoko had 15.
Portland was selling throughout the period, but Golden State was graced with another brilliant night from Stephen Curry. The second most valiant judge in the NBA scored 38 points and had new triples, two minutes in the finals to keep the Warriors around.
With the score 115-111 and 4:08 minutes remaining, the Warriors lost the opportunity to take a chance. A butler gets an offensive foul while fighting for a kick. Golden State contractor Steve Kerr made the decision, but that’s what he did.
Butler scored 20 points and Brandin Podziemski also scored 20 points. Draymond Green had 11 points and three goals in the Warriors’ third straight battle.
Portland has a 2-1 record in Cup play, while the Warriors are 1-2.
