Bad Bunny says “ICE out” during Grammy Awards acceptance speech

Bad Bunny used his acceptance speech at the Grammy Awards on Sunday to denounce U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and call for an end to the ongoing immigration crackdown on Sunday.
“Before I say thank you to God, I’m going to say ICE out,” said the Puerto Rican artist while accepting a Grammy Award for his album “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” in the urban music album category. “We are not savages, we are not animals, we are not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans.”
His statement was met with applause and ovations. This happened as protests against ICE were taking place across the country this weekendnotably in Los Angeles, where the 68th annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held on Sunday. The Grammy Awards were broadcast live on CBS television channels and streaming on Paramount+.

“I also want to tell people that I know it’s hard to know, not to hate these days,” Bad Bunny said. “And I thought sometimes they say ‘contaminado,’ I don’t know how to say that in English. Hate gets more and more powerful with more hate. The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”
In conclusion, he said: “So please, we have to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don’t hate them. We love our people. We love our family and there is a way to do it, with love, and don’t forget that.”
The 31-year-old artist, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has won four Grammys and 12 Latin Grammys. He should be the headliner of Apple Music 2026 Super Bowl halftime show next week.
Bad Bunny has been outspoken on immigration issues and notably did not schedule US dates on his world tour to promote his latest album, telling iD magazine that this was done in part out of fear of ICE raids.
Before Bad Bunny’s speech, Olivia Dean, who won best new artist, said during her acceptance speech: “I’m here as the granddaughter of an immigrant. I wouldn’t be here…I’m a product of bravery and I think these people deserve to be celebrated.”
Other artists who attended the Grammy Awards on Sunday, including Billie Eilish and Jack Antonoff, also wore “ICE OUT” pins in support.
