INGLEWOOD, CA, USA. (AP) – Ban Adebayo scored 25 points and got his rebounds, Norman Powell had 21 units in California and the Miami Heat held off the Los Angeles Clippers to win 120-119 on moon night.
Andrew Wiggins scored 17 and Kel’el Ware added 16 to help the Heat face a two-game losing streak and become a visitor for the second time in five games. Miami has a 1-2 record entering a four-game road trip.
James Harden scored 29 points and Kawhi Leonard added 27 as the Clippers lost at home for the first time in four games this span.
Ivica Zubac had new points and 12 rebounds for Los Angeles. Derrick Jones Jr., Bradley Beal and John Collins competed a total of 12 years.
El Heat shot a steely 54.2% from the field and made 12 of their 25 triples, hitting 50% ahead of the Clippers, who went 17 of 41 from a long distance. Los Angeles had 21 turnovers that the Heat converted into 37 points.
Miami won 120-116 after two free throws from Adebayo with 56 seconds remaining. Adebayo made a shot with 26 seconds to play and Harden made a triple at the other end with 20 seconds remaining to hang on to the Clippers within a point.
The Clippers had a chance to win, but Leonard lost a 26-pie triple on the sound of the ball.
The Clippers managed as many as 13 points in the third quarter before winning 105-105 with 9:55 remaining on a triple from veteran Chris Paul.
