Belkin said he could offer “partial” reimbursements for all affected WEMO devices which are still under warranty on January 31, 2026 or after, but you will not be able to request a refund before this date.
In a statement, Belkin said that “sincerely apologizes[s] For drawbacks ”caused by the imminent closure of the service:
“After a meticulous examination, we made the decision difficult to put an end to the technical care of the older WEMO products, as of January 31, 2026. After that date, several Wemo products will no longer be controllable via the WEMO application. All the features based on cloud connectivity, including remote access and integration of voice assistants, will no longer work.
Over the past decade, since Belkin launched Wemo for the first time in 2011, we have committed to providing consumers innovative and simple to use accessories for a transparent intelligent house experience. However, as technology evolves, we need to focus our resources on different parts of the Belkin activity. »»
Belkin’s Wemo brand has been a player in intelligent domestic space for more than a decade, and he is mainly known for its lighting controls: smart bulbs, smart switches and smart traffic jams.
But following its 2018 acquisition by the Foxconn technology giant, Belkin seemed to move away from the smart house market, the Wemo brand published only a handful of products in recent years.
Belkin also raised eyebrows in 2023 when he announced that he was making a “big step back” of the material, the new standard that promises to unite the great ecosystems of smart house.
