The parents of Benet Senior of midfielder Judd Isom never allowed him to play football. They were concerned about the risk of injury, he said.

ISOM therefore chose to focus on football. But a concussion ended its first year season after four games, and two LCA tears in its left knee destined its second -year and junior students.

Thus, when ISOM made its university debut as a substitute against Lyon on September 4, it was a reason for celebration. Three years had passed since his last player for the Redwings.

“It was great, in particular the reception of the guys, both on the bench and on the field,” said ISOM. “They really welcomed me again, and it was not only in this match. It had been throughout the summer and training, and it really pushed me back to be on the ground with them. ”

The striker Mateo Picha is one of the elderly who was delighted to see Isom playing.

“It was so great,” said Picha. “Year of the first year, when we all arrived, we all clicked. We are all friends.”

But they wondered if ISOM would never come back.

“When we heard of the injury, not only the first, but the second was so heartbreaking for all of us,” said Picha. “It was almost as if we were also injured.

“It was so devastating. There were a lot of questions to find out this year. ”

Isom, who suffered his injuries during club football seasons, also had doubts. But he attributes to Dr Aaron Bare, who carried out the two knee surgeries, for encouraging his return.

“He really wanted to see me again there,” said Isom. “Even with him trying to recover me, I was still a little without ignorance because if I torn him for a third time, it completely scratches competition sports, even club sports at the university.

“It was something that I didn’t want to risk at all, so we decided to take the truly slow recovery.”

The restoration of ISOM after its first LCA surgery took six months. The second was 11 months and was authorized in July.

The third year coach Benet, Matt Klosterman, had never seen Isom play last month.

“I’m so happy for him,” said Klosterman. “I was worried about him that he could not make up for it quickly after so much free time. But he does a great job. ”

ISOM played in four games for Redwings (5-3) and exceeded all expectations.

“He’s so versatile,” said Picha. “After undergoing these injuries, it is so impressive to see how he can still play at such a high level.

“Honestly, the mental side is the most impressive part, how it can bounce back after crossing these two big injuries and playing such a good level.”

ISOM had come out for so long that he had almost forgotten what it was to play. But he was no stranger to his teammates. He was team leader during his second year and did photography for Redwings during his junior year, while enduring the difficult rehabilitation process.

“He is one of the best managers I have ever had,” said Klosterman. “He was the most responsible. He would anticipate things and do it.

“A hundred little things that should be done, and he took care of all this. He was incredible. It is exactly the kind of person who, if you are in a business, you hope you hire someone like Judd.”

Klosterman said everyone had been crushed when Isom suffered the second injury. But he never heard isom once complaining during rehabilitation or during pre-season while Klosterman tried to understand where to use it.

“We tried it everywhere,” said Klosterman. “But it seemed that the midfielder was the best for him.”

Before injuries, ISOM intended to try to play at university. This is no longer the case, but he found a silver lining.

“A great thing that it taught me was patience, of course, because it was a three-year process,” he said. “It really helped me with my academics because it gave me time to focus on school.”

Isom’s teammates are happy that they finally have time on the ground with him.

“There is nothing more than we want to play with him for our last year,” said Picha. “I’m glad he is.”

Klosterman too.

“When he enters, everyone is happy,” said Klosterman. “It is almost always in a good mood.

“He is the most resilient person. How can you not encourage a guy like that? “
