Bernie Sanders: If AI is so great, a 4-day work week should be easy

Vermont senator, Bernie Sanders, recently returned to the Podcast Joe Rogan, where he argued that if Artificial intelligence makes workers more productive, so the obvious compromise should be a lighter work week. To be precise, he pleaded for moving the work week at only four days.

Sanders made the comments during an episode of June 24 of the Podcast by Joe Rogan.

“You are a worker, your productivity increases because we give you AI, right?” Said Sanders. “Instead of throwing you into the street, I will reduce your work week at 32 hours.”

He added: “By the way, not a radical idea. There are world companies that do it, with some success.”

Sanders regularly pleaded for a four -day work week and noted that the Union of United Auto workers pushed hard for this in their last contractual negotiation. Last year, the Senator presented the law on the work week of thirty-two hours, which stressed that the transition to a shorter week of work should occur “without loss of remuneration”.

“Let’s use technology for workers,” Sanders said in the interview. “It means, give yourself more time with your family, with your friends, for education, whatever the hell you want to do – you no longer have to work 40 hours a week.”

It seems that improbable business leaders will go back to return hours for the same salary, but perhaps one day IA will give us all more free time.
