Gaming monitors with 4K ultra HD and high refresh rates have always been quite expensive, but the Asus ROG Strix XG27UCS has challenged that notion, offering competitive specs at a more affordable price. Currently, the Asus ROG Strix XG27UCS is $337.99 (originally launched at $499) after a 25% discount. This is the lowest price ever, according to price trackers.
The ROG Strix It does, however, still have the 160Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and 4K resolution you’d expect.
Since this is an IPS panel monitor, you won’t get the true black that OLEDs offer. This monitor’s contrast ratio is close to 922:1, according to IGN’s review, so black hues might appear closer to dark gray. You can calibrate settings to match specific games or genres. What’s cool is that it lets you save profiles with custom settings so you can easily switch between them if you’re switching from one game to another.
What do you think of it so far?
The height, tilt, swivel and swivel of the stand are all adjustable. You can also change the view from landscape to portrait, making it useful for people who also want to use it for work. Another feature that makes it user-friendly is a USB-C port that supports Display Port, meaning it’s the only cable you’ll need to connect your laptop for video, audio, and charging (most laptops now have this feature). It also has a tray for a small device on the stand where you can rest your phone and a headphone jack for wired headphones or external speakers.
