If current-gen performance isn’t at the top of your priority list, consider picking up the 10th generation iPad from 2022: It’s on sale for just $242 at Walmart in late October. That’s 31% off its usual price of $349 and a new all-time low that beats its Black Friday 2024 deal by $17. (By the way, Walmart’s price only applies to the silver model.) Its product page says stock is low, so don’t hang around.

For reference, the iPad 2022 features the same design as its predecessor but older, sleeker internals. Instead of the A16 chip, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage, you get the A14 Bionic chip, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. This will make it a little slower and leave you with less space to store photos and documents, but you can always put your savings towards an external hard drive later if necessary. (This may not be the case if you are a very casual user.)
