Our smoke detection test chamber allows us to test the speed with which each model raises an alarm when smoke enters the environment.
Regarding smoke detection, time is gasoline. This is why we have designed a test that simulates a real emergency.
The first thing to know is that there are two main types of fires for which these products are designed: flowers flowing and inflamed fires.
A smoked (or slow burning) fire refers to the combustion that occurs on the surface of a solid material. The fires that convent produce large amounts of thick smoke but cannot maintain a flame. Think of a cigarette that burns slowly but never in fact flames.
A flow that may be flowing and will become a flamboyant fire if the appropriate measurements are not taken immediately.
The flamboyant fires are those that we know more, and they generally arise from the ignition of any flammable material, such as a flammable substance, wood, paper, etc. These generally produce less smoke than a flow that flows but is more destructive.
In my backyard, I built a room that houses the smoke detector and fed the two different types of smoke through a fireplace. I timed the speed of the answer. The faster the alarm of smoke detectors, the better.

To simulate the smoke from a flowing fire, I ignited 300 g of charcoal and I let it heat for 10 minutes before feeding the smoke. I wanted to make sure that most of the coals were inflamed and that the smoke was thick enough to trigger the alarm.
Recreating a flamboyant fire was easy, only 30 g of shredded paper did the trick. Again, I assured that a significant quantity of smoke was present before feeding it through the fireplace and in the room.
To the great discomfort of my neighbors, who had to endure smoke alarms that go out at random, and to whom I sincerely apologize, I repeated the whole process by model of smoke detector and by type of smoke, totaling six tries by smoke detector. Finally, I made the average response time.
