Terrestrial biodiversity grows with tree cover in agricultural landscapes

Farmers plant or preserve riparian buffers for a variety of reasons, such as improving water quality, controlling erosion, or maintaining hunting habitat. Now, a new study from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign highlights the benefits of riparian buffers for terrestrial biodiversity, revealing that for every 10 percent increase in forest cover, one additional species is present.
