Big East basketball tournament 2026: Updated bracket, scores and schedule
The Big East title game berths will be decided Friday with intriguing semifinal matchups on deck. St. John’s will face No. 4 seed Seton Hall in the first game of the doubleheader, followed by UConn against Georgetown.
The action comes after the second day at Madison Square Garden was low on drama until the final game of the evening, when No. 11 seed Georgetown beat No. 3 seed Villanova 78-64. It was the second day in a row that the Hoyas pulled off an upset in the Big East tournament.
The Hoyas are in the semifinals of the Big East Tournament for the first time since 2021, the year the program won its last conference title.
Top-seeded St. John’s opened the day with an 85-72 victory over Providence. The loss — pending an invitation to a postseason tournament outside of the NCAA Tournament — will likely be coach Kim English’s final game at the school. English and Providence are expected to part ways at the end of the season.
No. 2 seed UConn also advanced to the semifinals with a 92-68 victory over Xavier. The Huskies were playing their first game since their surprise loss in the regular season finale to Marquette.
The Big East title game is scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
