Billy Donovan signs another Chicago Bulls multi-year contract extension, per report

Billy Donovan will remain the coach of the Chicago Bulls in the foreseeable future after having signed a multi -year contract extension on Sunday, by ESPN. Donovan entered his sixth season as a Bulls coach, going to 195-205 during his first five seasons in Chicago with a trip to the playoffs in 2022.

The Bulls have spent 39-43 in consecutive seasons, ending as the 9 seeds in the east in the two years, but are in the middle of a retool after exchanging Zach Lavine and Demar Derozan in recent years to move to a youth movement. The Bulls Front Office decided that Donovan was the right choice to continue to guide this young group when they try to stay competitive but become younger at the same time.

Donovan was one of the many active coaches chased by the Knicks this summer, but finally agreed to stay in Chicago for a new long -term agreement. The duration and specific conditions of the contract are not currently known.

With the quantity of turnover of the NBA in recent years, Donovan is the third longer trainer in the NBA. He is tied with the coach of Thunder Mark Daignault and the clippers coach Tyronn read with 400 games trained, because they were all hired in the summer of 2020. The only coaches who were with their current teams are Erik Spoelstra in Miami and Steve Kerr in Golden State.
