Board of Peace of Peace Has ‘Unlimited Potential’ for Gaza and Elsewhere – RedState

On Sunday, President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to sing the praises of the Board of Peace, which was constituted to bring an end to the fighting in Gaza; the president notes that the Board may be able to influence events far beyond that little, hotly contested strip of land.

He may be right.

The president writes (paragraph breaks added for clarity):

The Board of Peace has unlimited potential. Last October, I released a Plan for the permanent end to the Conflict in Gaza, and our Vision was unanimously adopted by the United Nations Security Council.

Shortly thereafter, we facilitated Humanitarian Aid at record speed, and secured the release of every living and deceased Hostage. Just last month, two dozen distinguished Founding Members joined me in Davos, Switzerland, to celebrate its official formation, and present a bold Vision for the Civilians in Gaza, and then, ultimately, far beyond Gaza — WORLD PEACE!

On February 19th, 2026, I will again be joined by Board of Peace Members at the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., where we will announce that Member States have pledged more than $5 BILLION DOLLARS toward the Gaza Humanitarian and Reconstruction efforts, and have committed thousands of personnel to the International Stabilization Force and Local Police to maintain Security and Peace for Gazans.

Very importantly, Hamas must uphold its commitment to Full and Immediate Demilitarization. The Board of Peace will prove to be the most consequential International Body in History, and it is my honor to serve as its Chairman. PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

While the president sounds an optimistic tone regarding Gaza, we should note his caveat that Hamas must uphold its commitment. Hamas isn’t exactly known for honest dealings with, well, anyone. They, and forces like them, will only use any interval of peace as a time to re-arm, retrain, recruit, and plan their next atrocity. On that we may rely.  And, as I’ve been saying and writing for some time, there will be no lasting peace in Gaza until Hamas is no longer a factor.

But there is a time to sound an optimistic tone, and President Trump’s instincts in such matters are usually pretty good.

Even so, I’d be interested to see a breakdown on that $5 billion to the Gaza rebuilding efforts; how much of that is coming from the United States, and how much from the other nations involved?

Still, there’s potential in an effort like this Board of Peace, but only if it’s led by a renewed, robust, and muscular United States.

Here’s why, and I’m going to tell you: Peace can only be established and maintained through strength. President Trump gets that, thus the retooling of Joe Biden’s moribund Department of Defense into the younger, tougher, more muscular War Department. Peace is great, peace is desirable, but there are bad people out there, and they have to know that the civilized nations of the world, led by the United States, will come down on them like a thousand of brick if they start kicking up their heels.

But President Trump won’t be in office forever, and a future Democratic president, if he (or she, or xir, or whatever) should have a Democratic Congress, all this could come crashing down. Need another reason to vote in the midterms? Here you are.
