Tesla ended its free lifetime Supercharging offer completely in 2018, but it has since offered customers the benefit of some promotions. For example, it brought back free supercharging for the Model S and X several times in 2019. The automaker’s latest offer is for new purchases of a Model 3 Premium or Performance vehicle in North America. On its website, Tesla announced that it is including a year of free Supercharging with a Model 3 Premium or Performance, although the offer is “subject to change or end at any time.”

As Electrek Notes, this is a nice gift, but probably not a deal breaker for people charging at home. For those without access to a home charger, however, this could represent significant savings.

The Free Supercharge offer begins upon delivery and cannot be carried over or exchanged for cash. Owners will also have to continue paying certain fees, such as the congestion charge that the automaker adds if a vehicle remains plugged into a Supercharger after its battery reaches 80% when a site is occupied. The offer also does not apply to vehicles used for commercial purposes, such as rideshare, taxi and delivery services. As for those who traded in their gas vehicles for the 2,000-mile Supercharger incentive, they can take advantage of this freebie first and redeem those miles after their first year of ownership.
