3 Exciting Camera Features on Apple’s New iPhone 17 Lineup

Apple says that the “uses AI” camera to extend the field of vision and adjust orientation. It’s super practical, especially since you don’t have to change the way you keep your phone, which means more precarious grip. It is also much more comfortable, but it will probably still take time to recycle your muscle memory and stop going into landscape mode for selfies.

Double capture

You can finally save with the front and rear cameras natively in the iPhone camera application! Ok, it’s not technically new. You have been able to do it via a third -party application for years, and some Android phones have this functionality natively in the Camera application for a decade. Samsung calls it double recording on its Galaxy phones, while HMD Nokia phones – when they were always one thing – called “Bothie”. Now he is from the new iPhone.

Press the Overflow Camera menu at the top right in video mode and choose Double Capture. It works up to 4K 30 images per second, and you will see a floating preview of the front camera – like when you are on a video call – with the main viewfinder displaying the view from the rear camera. The placement of the floating view of the front camera seems to be important because it does not seem that you can change it after capture, so you will want to make sure that you do it in a place where it does not block the action.

It’s not revolutionary, but it’s a funny little ability, I think a lot of people will now take advantage that it is native in the application of the camera.

8x zoom

I test the phones to make a living, but I am also a photographer, and the camera that I use most often is the zoom of telephoto lens. I find the main cameras on most phones today a little too much, so optical zoom options allow me to get closer to the subject.

Color me excited that the new iPhone 17 pro models can go up to 8x zoom and keep an optical quality! Apple has upgraded the telephoto lens camera at 48 megapixels, which means you can see more details in your photos. It is also a 4x optical zoom camera. This may look like a step back, since pro iPhones offer 5x optical zoom for several years. However, upgrading the number of megapixels and the largest sensor should offer better quality images overall, whether at 4x, 5x or even up to 8x.
